Abstract
After completing four semesters of elementary school teacher education, students are expected to master the three skills of art and culture learning. However, based on an initial study, issues are indicating the unpreparedness of the teacher candidate for mastering these three skills. This study aims to delve deeper into the problem of the teacher candidate's readiness to implement teaching for the three types of skills, which include dance, music, and visual arts. This study employs a qualitative method with a case study design, conducting open interviews with teacher candidates, which are then categorized into five themes. The results indicate that the teacher candidate experienced several problems mastering these three skills. Given the importance of mastering these three skills for teacher candidates, it is crucial for researchers to further investigate to find out how the problem of readiness for elementary school teacher candidates is based on the actual conditions in the field.
